Suffer UK are back with a new lineup and their upcoming release, *Soul From Flesh* , set to come out in August 2026. I had the pleasure and fortune of listening to it before its release date, and I can easily say that it wastes no time making an impact. Darker, heavier and more aggressive, this feels like the beginning of a new chapter for a band clearly ready to level up.

The opening “III”, builds suspense from the beginning, creating high expectations straight away. The intro starts as a gloomy ballad, but in a much heavier and darker way, full of emotion, tension and a shadowy atmosphere that pulls you in before the EP fully explodes.

The second song, “Pendulum of Vengeance”, comes in with a fast pace, tempo-changing riffs and the sharp vocal attack that is impressive from minute one way until the end.  The vocals bring a strong and commanding presence, with power, control and brutality throughout the track. The middle breakdown feels like a vortex of techniques and shifting rhythms, constantly moving and keeping the intensity high. 

Following that, “Self Immolation” brings out a much more obscure and macabre feeling. The song feels like an explosion of breakdowns, powerful beats and pure aggression. It is raw, violent and dark, using the idea of burning away the old self as a way to express transformation and the need to move into a higher state of being. It connects strongly with the main theme of transitioning from one stage of life to another, but it does it in a way that feels brutal and almost suffocating.

The EP continues with a scream explosion on the title track “Soul From Flesh”. This song feels like the pure incarnation of what Suffer are trying to transmit with this release: raw aggression, technical beats and an insane vocal performance. It hits hard from the start and carries a heavy emotional weight, tackling themes of abandonment, anxiety and imposter syndrome. The song is intense, direct and full of rage, but there is also something very personal underneath the brutality.

“Desolated Dreams” closes this powerful release with a march-like intro that quickly shows the capacity and depth of the song. It starts slower, building tension, but then speeds up and punches you in the face almost immediately. The vocals are a huge highlight here, but the drumming also deserves attention. It is fast, precise and locked in perfectly with the rest of the instruments, giving the track a massive impact. There is also a clear black metal influence in the atmosphere, especially in the colder guitar tones, the darker mood and the almost bleak, sorrowful feeling that runs through the song. It gives the closing track a more haunting edge, while still keeping its heaviness and intensity at full force.

The EP artwork resonates a lot with me. The image of a human face split in two, with a skeleton in the middle, all in black and white, is beautiful and powerful. It shows this paradox between life and death, and the split between the soul and the afterlife and it connects perfectly with the dark atmosphere of the release.

This new release is going to take Suffer to another level, and the work that has been put into this EP really shows: it is precise, aggressive and full of rage, giving the band the chance to push themselves even further into a darker and stronger era.
