A review by Gioia –

Bristol extreme metallers Embodiment return with serious intent on “Jeopardy in Idolatry”, a single that shows a band pushing themselves into heavier and more refined grounds.

Opening with a strong, groove driven riff, the track wastes no time getting heavy. The guitar work stands out with riffs that flow effortlessly while carrying a sharp melodic edge. There’s a real sense of movement in the way everything is put together, at times almost pulling you into another dimension, without ever sacrificing its weight.

Vocals hit with power and control, bringing a focused performance that cuts straight through, but it’s the mid track scream that really stands out, hitting hard and bringing a surge of raw brutality. Lyrically, it digs into hidden truths, false idols, and corruption beneath the surface. It builds a sense of unease, exposing the illusion of perfection and control while deepening the track’s darker tone.
The drum work is locked in and relentless, with precise double pedal sections driving the track forward and keeping the intensity high from start to finish.

That balance between melody and aggression runs through the entire song, giving it depth while still hitting with full force. It doesn’t try to reinvent anything, and it doesn’t need to.
With this release, Embodiment give the fans a strong return, and a clear sign there’s more still to come. I can’t wait to hear what comes next! 9/10

I often find myself in moments of desperation, thinking of ways to say something without repeating them. Then I read a review that is so immediately well placed and descriptive by doing the job needed of the vocabulary I shy away from. A well made review with well put sentiment.

    Notes have been taken.
