Dark chords integrated with harsh heavy riffs – LUCRETIAN – Interview

Interviewed by The Brutal Commander

Q1: How do you describe your sound, genre and style?

A1. We’ve honed in on a raw death metal sound with blackened elements, especially vocally. Dark chords integrated with harsh heavy riffs.

Q2: Please explain to the reader the origins of your band name.

A2. Our name is derived from an ancient Roman noblewoman named Lucretia, who suffered heinous atrocities that lead to her taking her own life. However in death, this sparked a huge rebellion against the Roman monarchy, which was overthrown and replaced with the mighty Roman republic.

Q2.2: Do you feel you still embody the same meaning now? Do you feel you still identify with the name the same way you did when you came up with it?

A2.2 Lucretia was a victim of a crime that destroyed her by no fault of her own. However the power she injected the rebels within death was more powerful than what she achieved in life. Power though suffering is something we focus our lyrical content on and we absolutely stand by that meaning.

Q3. What’s the most ambitious goal you have for your project right now? What’s the holy grail of achievements or experiences for you?

A3. We just want to make our music. If people get it, they get it. If they don’t, then that’s alright with us.

Black Death Metal!

Q4. When can we expect more music to be released from you?

A4. We have a couple more tracks ready for release. One’s an original, with another feature from a band based in Luxembourg. The other is a cover of a death metal classic.

Q5: Do you have anything else coming up that you’re particularly excited for?

A5. We’re just gonna keep enjoying making and producing our music. We’ll take on whatever comes our way.

Q6: Are there any up and coming bands that you recommend the readers should look into?

A6. A band we’re close with and have loved for years, who’re constantly rising are Countless Skies. UK/Europe based Melodic Death Metal that Harv once stepped in on drums for and of course, Ross King featured on our latest track ‘Veil’. Some honourable mentions go to Dead Flesh, Denali, Blanket Hill, Earthbound, Tribe of Ghosts and Suffer no Fools.
