Interviewed by The Brutal Commander
This week we highlight a band that fell on our radar during the great search for UK’s Death Metal offerings. A band with a history that begins in Brazil! Now based in Scotland this group of Death Dealers are here to show the UK what they have to offer! We proudly present to you, MURDER WORSHIP!!
Q1: How do you describe your sound, genre and style?
A1- Our main influences are bands from the Swedish and American Death Metal scene. Bands like Unleashed, Morbid Angel, Dismember, Autopsy… Our focus is to do the traditional death metal based in our influences keeping the same proposal.
Q2: Please explain to the reader the origins of your band name.
A2- I decided by this name because of the Cannibal Corpse song ‘Murder Worship’, which is a song that I like a lot and I thought it would be a great name for a death metal band.
Q2.2: Do you feel you still embody the same meaning now? Do you feel you still identify with the name the same way you did when you came up with it?
A2.2- Yes.
Q3. What’s the most ambitious goal you have for your project right now? What’s the holy grail of achievements or experiences for you?
A3- After moving from Brazil to Scotland, I had to take a time to organise a lot of stuff and myself first because everything was new and I was starting a new life again. After that the first step was to put a new lineup together and start rehearsing. Now we are looking forward to play live in local gigs, festivals and if possible in the big festivals as well.
Q4. When can we expect more music to be released from you?
A4- During the pandemic I released the second album ‘Doomsday’ and used the extra time on my hands to compose the third album. We are focused now to put the band together and start playing live but I want to start working on this third album as soon as possible.
Q5: Do you have anything else coming up that you’re particularly excited for?
A5- We are looking forward to start playing gigs in UK as it is a scene that is getting bigger and bigger and I really want Murder Worship to join the UK’s Death Metal Scene.
Q6: Are there any up and coming bands that you recommend the readers should look into?
A6- This one is a hard question to answer cause there’s a lot of great bands that I’d recommend here but there are three great bands I would like to recommend that are Anhaguama (Brazil), Brainbath and Tymvos.
