Industrial Metal
Australia
Released 20th February, 2026
Although originally released as a six track EP, HIDE FROM THE LIGHT has been given LP status with the addition of three more hymns to hysteria.
If the fact that, right now, it all seems to be kicking off everywhere wasn’t scary enough, the Brisbane noise weaponists bring a war to your mind. By fusing dark electronica to industrial strength deathcore, DIESECT causes a mental discomfort that is delicious in its deranged inner-dystopia.

So, for this ‘DELUXE EDITION’, we are subjected to an extension to finding our failings, flaws and futile fantasies.
I am instantly reminded of the new band from Brighton, Devilhusk, who won last year’s local Metal To The Masses that awarded them a slot at Bloodstock 2025. My knowledge of this style of extreme music consists of just the two bands mentioned but, with each one that arrives, I am converted even more to this form of musical self loathing and stink faced riffs and hooks.

Where the title track attacks the senses with a morbid joy, such is its groove, the following song, TOO MANY SCARS, ramps up the caustic nature with some neu-nu metal flavour.
Elsewhere, SHURA offers what could only be put lightly as standard deathcore with a brutally stomping tempo and catchy hook. Also, THERE WAS NEVER LIGHT is two minutes of breakdown, both holistic and horrifying in its complete disregard for studio compressors or limiters.
And then, we get to the extra tracks that turned the EP to LP…
FOUR WALLS gives the listener the sort of discomfort found watching those psychological films like Night Of The Hunter, Silence Of The Lambs and Dead Calm.
DEATH OF A SHADOW is a battle for sanity that doesn’t want to be won, and NO HOME LEFT TO FIND offers no redemption or closure in its oppressive heaviness.
Sometimes there are no happy endings, but there is a catharsis knowing that a shared turmoil can find common ground.
It may appear that DIESECT are out to ruin your day with HIDE FROM THE LIGHT, but they have given something to latch onto, if you feel a semblance of similarity.
What is also offered is a display of dark, heavy music that both explains and entertains.

HIDE FROM THE LIGHT is available via Greyscale Records, on major streaming platforms now.
