Death Metal
Japan
Released 26th January, 2026
The Nagano City natives have made a bold choice for their second album, NOCTURNAL VISIONS. Where INVICTUS’ 2020 debut was a hammer to the face in brutal death metal with a dark, thrash bite, NOCTURNAL VISIONS finds the trio trading some of those teeth with a thick miasma of scooped guitars and ominous dread.

Made up of guitarist/Vocalist Takehitopsy Seki, drummer Haruki Tokutake and bassist Toshihiro Seki, the band have the competence and passion to pull off something with a bit more depth, and it all pays dividends, however, as the nine tracks are crushing examples of extremity.
ABYSSAL EARTH ERADICATES sets the mood with a bipolar evisceration of breakneck death with moments of space that allows the riffs to get really under the skin.
Don’t be fooled. Technicality reigns throughout the album, but it is given the sort of groove heard best in the western world from swampy Florida or the industrial English Midlands. Think Obituary, Bolt Thrower, etc… with added Cannibal Corpse viscosity.
Cases of point would be LUCID DREAM TRAUMA, which is a hobnail booted march of old school devastation.
Elsewhere, FROZEN TOMB has all the hallmarks of Swedish melodeath, akin to At The Gates.
To accomplish all this with a live, unfiltered production is, in itself, further evidence of the INVICTUS sound.
NOCTURNAL VISIONS may well come across as an everyman death metal album, and I think that’s the point.
Why pigeonhole something when you can play what you enjoy the most, to people who enjoy hearing it?
They played it, I enjoyed hearing it. Maybe you can, too.
It is, after all, pure death metal, played purely.

NOCTURNAL VISIONS is available through ME SACO UN OJO Records now, to stream from the usual sites. Also available on the INVICTUS Bandcamp.
