These Kent Thrashers dropped off the end of the world for a while, their debut EP, ‘Doomed from Day One’ hit the airwaves back in July 2018 – It was a good bit of underground thrash, full of good ideas, meaty riffs and chunky rhythms but nothing that really separated them from their peers
and as with many a band (especially in our beloved thrash) the guys did their thing, played a few shows and slipped away again without too much fuss being made.
So why should things be any different 6 years later for their new EP – ‘Digital Dementia’… well first up, the quality of the songwriting, musicianship and recording has blasted that first release out of the park… but what can you expect??
Well first track, first single and opening salvo ‘God Forbid’ comes out of the barrel with its only intent to decimate!! The song lyrics seem to be typical thrash fair at first listen … but read between the lines and realize that the god they are talking about is social media and the ‘good’ book is more Facebook than holy ..
The track has some bold riffs, punching high, as it has the hint of Slayer about it, which is no accident, and if you catch lead guitarist Dave on the subject, he will wax lyrically on how the band and engineers put a lot of effort into recording like the thrash titans did back in 1986…
Shallow Hole continues the bands vitriol attack on the mindless narcassistic use of social media, influencers and other arse feeders as they try to impart their ideology on the brainwashed masses.
Blunt Force Drama, follows which is another stand out track on the EP, described as if Slayer met the Beastie Boys, this banger changes the tempo a little bit compared to the other three tracks, still heavy as fuck, but taking a more tongue in cheek attack on the Keyboard warriors out there… the self induced victim, the Karen, the drama creator hiding behind the profile pic and social media impunity…
The title track – Digital Dementia, finishes the EP off the way it began, galloping no nonsense thrash metal, with a side serving of difficult truth… how mindless scrolling fogs your brain, makes recall harder and basically turns you into a dumb ass…. is this the plague of our generation?

All in all this EP is a fabulous come back, awesome artwork, well recorded and engineered, cracking musicianship, heavy as fuck, interesting and a thought provoking narrative if you want to read deeper… or if not just start a mosh pit.. but make sure you film it for TIkTok!!
Chemical Storm – Digital Dementia is out on July the 23rd…. yes it’s a Tuesday, 6 years to the day the last EP came out
Order now via BandCamp, Digital Download or hassle the band as I know they have CD’s!!
