Lucretian – VEIL (Single) – Review

A review by The Brutal Commander

A slow chuggy section introduces the track with a showdown type vibe as my imagination takes me to visions of contenders entering the battle field.

The speed picks up as battle begins and a sinister otherworldly vocal punctuates each beat with iniquitous execution. The vocal style is very black metal and i love it. The raw possessed nature of their sound really adds to the evil atmosphere of the music.

Beneath the chugs is a droning guitar bringing yet another element of heinous sound waves to this amalgamation of deathly intent.

I really enjoyed the fast cherry picking guitar in the middle of the song bringing an epic break to the journey. The exploding, raging inferno that follows really brings the heart pace up and when the chugs come back in you’re halfway to insanity as you find yourself rattling your brain in it’s enamel coated prison cell to the final blast beat section and ready to reload that track and take it all back in again.

The song has an interesting structure to it which i always enjoy because ABAB is just predictable and boring to me. Bringing interesting breaks, build ups and bright epic sections really kept me listening to this one. The production is great, whoever mixed this captured the atmospheres and ferocity in the right moments and the master provides a great listening experience for these moments.

I give VEIL 8 desecrated graves out of 10!
