We let Hutch off the leash with the debut single from Struck A Nerve ahead of its release to the rest of the world tomorrow….. here’s what he thinks!!
Coming screaming at you with the velocity of a thousand jet engines, the desire of Struck A Nerve to write “the most aggressive and savage thrash” hits home. This is a ferocious bludgeon around the head in a statement that makes it clear, these boys aren’t here to change direction or style. Nope, this is pure, undiluted thrash metal just as the maker intended it.
Drafting in former Shrapnel vocalist / bassist Aaran Tucker to the fold, it’s a deliciously exciting prospect to see him join former band mates Chris Williams (drums) and guitarist Nathan Sadd. Nocturnal Terror rips the face of all pretenders to the crown and makes an immediate claim to the top dog position. Savagely powerful, it’s a combination of strengths that sees Struck A Nerve deliver a blistering salvo across the bows. Take the band at your peril.

What do you get here then? A visceral aural mauling, with a little HM2 in the mix that provides a dirty buzzsaw feel. Relentless drumming from Williams and the joy of hearing Tucker’s raging pipes again all against some of the most blistering guitar work of 2024. It’s a short attack, under three-minutes long, but with a phenomenal tempo, this isn’t going anywhere off piste, preferring to instead deliver a burst of fiery riffs that sees the pace slow into a more brooding second half before accelerating towards the climax. Ample time changes, massive hooks and a flourish that sees the energy levels soar as it races home.
Nocturnal Terror focuses on the founding of Cheka (ЧК) after the Russian Revolution in 1917. The brutal first iteration of the Soviet secret police, the dangers of extremist politics, and political violence. With influences including Power Trip, Enforced and Pest Control cited by the band, this is a song that surely gives the UK thrash scene a much-needed kick in the rear. With a second single ready, Struck A Nerve are poised to make great inroads in the future months and years.
Stuck A Nerve – Nocturnal Terror is released on Friday the 28th June and can be streamed HERE or wait until 12pm and see the lads in their debut music video on YouTube courtesy of Face Melting Media (or down below)
