I click play and who am i greeted with? Glenn from SpectreSoundStudios shouting at us about how he wants bands to move around! Unexpected and comical start to the track.
Then a cool chunky riff starts to build the track up as it’s accompanied by vocals that bring the build up to its climax. The song developes into a heavy hitting groovy section where deep, brutal, gravelly vocals fire the story of the song at us like audible bullets. From what i know of the band the vocalist is multi-lingual, speaking English, Russian and Arabic and i believe we can hear those languages used throughout this track.
I can hardly contain myself as the heavy hitting drums draw out an animalistic instinct in me to smash everything around me! You can really feel the aggressive brutality in the aura of this song as the band execute perfectly crafted beats and riffs to get you jumping around and craving the collision of moshing bodies!
The alarm towards the end is one of my favourite moments where it matches with the hi hat and gives this really cool vibe that keeps you grooving and moving! I can only imagine how hard hitting this would be through a venue sound system!
I think Dire Thorns have got something special here. It’s unlike anything i hear bands making in the underground at the moment and i can’t wait to experience their music in all its glory live! As a DIY band it’s impressive to see releases coming this good and i imagine with further improvement to their production this band have the potential to release some top tier music that will be on everyone’s playlists!
I’m giving UDAR 8 flayed scalps out of 10!
