There’s nothing like a Christmas single…. and this is nothing like one!! Hutch checks out the new track from the Gutlocker boys!!

Like a good dose of the clap, Gutlocker continue to persist despite best efforts to forget them. It appears that no dose of cream of medicine can remove the four-piece from the lugholes, and it may be time to finally learn to live with them.  

I jest of course, for Gutlocker remain a hugely entertaining and enjoyable band to see live and to listen to. The 2023 ‘To Be Alive’ album propelled Craig McBrearty, Pete Tucker, Dean Walker, and Ben Rollinson to the front section of the metal queue, and this savage single will do them no harm at all.  

From the roaring start which highlights McBrearty’s unique screaming delivery, the compulsive groove that underpins the track, or the clever Faith No More style slow down mid-section which allows the band to regroup and build the savagery for the final assault, there is plenty to explore. McBrearty is in angry form, seemingly in need of the catharsis that his songwriting brings him.  

It may only be 3:36 in length, but the boys pack a lot in to a track that grows on you with every listen. Get involved, and support one of the UKs most exciting underground outfits.
