LOCUSTS – LAPSUS AB INFERNO (EP) Review

A review by Gioia –

Locusts make a strong first mark with Lapsus Ab Inferno, an EP that feels raw, direct and built for the pit.
The intro track, “Nameless Grave”, is a dark, hypnotic opener. A creepy spoken sample and shadowy soundscape pull you straight into their world before it spills into “Last Chance to Die”. That first full song hits with a classic fast hardcore pace: a clean but effective riff, urgent tempo and a short, punchy structure that does exactly what it needs to do and gets out.

“Forced to Watch” kicks in with a proper two‑step friendly intro that feels perfect for the pit. The vocals are angry and upfront, riding over fast drums and adding to the hypnotic drive of the track. “Fall From Hell” follows the same furious path, leaning harder into the violence and aggression that hardcore thrives on, and keeping the momentum burning.

The highlight comes with the closer “Thy Flesh Consumed”, a real gem of thrash‑crossover. The pace is pure mosh fuel, the kind of track that feels like sweat on the floor and bodies bouncing around. The breakdown lands well, dropping into a flow where drums and guitars lock together tightly. The riff stays simple but has that thrash‑worthy edge, fast and groovy enough to stick in your head and demand a replay.

There is still room for growth, but Lapsus Ab Inferno is a great first EP: the songs hit hard, leave a strong impression, and are easy to spin from start to finish. The artwork is a perfect match for the sound: nostalgic and dark, a heap of skeletons and skulls beneath a heavy sky, giving a real sense of being dragged down into the inferno the title promises.

We’re giving LAPSUS AB INFERNO 8 Gore stained mallets out of 10
