Q1. Can you tell us about what lead you to find extreme metal and what about it ignited this passion you have for it?
– My parents are metalheads and I grew up listening to a mixture of rock and heavy metal. I found extreme metal at the age of 13, when I bought the DevilDriver album “The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand”. Since then, I’ve been exploring how aggressive and technical metal can be, and I’ve fallen in love with it.
Q2. When did you first get involved in underground music? Can you tell us how that journey started?
– I first started as a freelance journalist for an online metal vlog. There, I had the opportunity to interview amazing extreme metal musicians, review their music, and build connections in the scene.
Q3. Are there any pinnacle events or specific people that have kept you on the path of supporting extreme metal?
– The metal community I found on Twitter has really played a huge part in my continuing on the path into the extreme metal scene. I would say my boss at Redefining Darkness Records, Tommy, has been my biggest supporter and gave me the opportunity to work for him behind the scenes, and learn alot in the process.
Q4. Can you tell us of any resources, entities or communities that could be particularly helpful for extreme metal bands in the underground today?
– Bandcamp, Ampwall, and the best of all, which is a classic, is going to shows and networking with other people in the scene.

Q5. How many band tshirts and merch items do you think you’ve collected so far? (Pics of your favourites are greatly welcome!)
– Oh wow…I’m an avid collector of metal shirts, and I’d estimate that I’ve got well over 100 at this point. Which doesn’t sound like that many, but the 100 I have is because I’ve exercised restraint! If I bought every shirt I liked, I’d have thousands!
Q6. What your favourite metal themed movie? (Rockumentaries count)
– I’d say “Heavy Trip”. It’s brutal, funny, and the sound track is amazing.
Q7. Are there any extreme metal bands in the underground that you feel the readers need to listen to?
– I could literally name hundreds, but I’ll name my favourites at the time of writing: Overthrow, Tortured Demon, Neckbreaker and Oxygen Destroyer.
