Sheffield.. the city of steel, and whilst the industrial revolution has long passed the city is still offering up some musical deep cuts. Who knows why some areas become aligned to a genre and tap into a rich and ever flowing stream of talent but at the moment Sheffield is tapped into a Crossover and Hardcore vein that continues to deliver.
Last Chance Saloon from hardcore bruisers Torn Between is no exception, and the debut 3 track EP places the lads on a solid footing to end 2023, after a short cowboy vocal interludes the breakdowns start from the get go… heavy chugging riffs and a spat out vocal delivery smash through the short intro/title track before segwaying into the second track ‘needs must (when the devil drives) that is just full of vigour and spite, before launching headlong into the final gun totting track ‘Dust Of The .45’

For a debut this is a solid effort, for those that don’t like hardcore, the vocal delivery will probably leave you feeling the same, as it doesn’t bring anything into play that will change that opinion, but for those thrashers that like to swing into the crossover arena, with plenty of riffs, breakdowns and punishing beats then this is an enjoyable little stomp and sets the band up for a heavy swing at 2024
Torn Between ‘Last Chance Saloon’ is out now, and catch the lads supporting fellow home town mosh kings Guilt Trip for their album launch show at Sheffield Corporation on December the 15th
